Health promotion strategy against child abuse in the family
Abstract
Introduction: the strategy of health promotion against child abuse in the family is the practical projection of a previously constructed theoretical model.
Objective: to corroborate the practical value of the health promotion strategy against child abuse in the family, prior to assessing its scientific-methodological relevance.
Method: a pre-experimental study (before and after) was carried out in six family doctors' offices of the "Belkis Sotomayor Álvarez" Polyclinic in Ciego de Ávila, between January 2011 and December 2016. The universe was of 407 families and 126 community representatives, and the intentional sample of 385 and 113, respectively. Theoretical methods were applied: historical-logical, inductive-deductive, analysis-synthesis, systemic-structural-functional, hermeneutic-dialectical, and others of an empirical level.
Results: the strategy was designed to raise the culture of defending the rights of children and was structured through a system of categories. Within them, their action plan was organized through three subprocesses integrated into the health enabling practice. According to experts, the internal consistency of the instrument was adequate: Cronbach's α coefficient equal to 0,970 and highly significant agreement (Kendall's W =0,673, c2 =108,987, p =0,000). The practical corroboration was effective according to the indicators of process, result and impact.
Conclusions: the scientific-methodological relevance was confirmed and the effectiveness of the strategy was corroborated to raise the level of knowledge, attitude and practice regarding the prevention of child maltreatment in the family and others involved, as well as in case of occurrence, identify it, report it and take care of itDownloads
