Diagnostic role of teachers in the teaching-learning process of the clinical method in Medicine career
Abstract
The objective of this work is to diagnose the role of teachers in the teaching learning process of the clinical method in the fifth year of medicine career from the Provincial General Teaching Hospital “Dr. Antonio Luaces Iraola”. The research was carried out from September 2012 until July 2013. It was examined 15 professors of the different rooms of the fifth year that were observed and surveyed intentionally. The 100% of the teachers considered that the level of development of the students in the implementation of the clinical method has to be high. To apply a scale of values in observing classes, with the aim of recognizing the orientation and the acquisition of skills in the application of the method, it was obtained that the highest range is among appropriate and very appropriate. In the observation of education activities in work to assess the use of the steps and the development of the skills of the clinical method, only 18.3% of the student body qualifies in a very adequately way. The treatment of contents, which make up the clinical method, appears fragmented and without a coherent systematization. These results indicate the need of an action in education activities to develop this skill in students.
