Histopronotic factors in women with special varieties of infiltrating carcinoma of the breast
Abstract
Introduction: anatomopathological examination is a fundamental tool for the treatment and evolution of women with infiltrating carcinoma of the breast.
Objective: to describe the histo-prognosis factors in the special varieties of infiltrating carcinoma of the female breast.
Method: a transversal descriptive observational study was carried out in the Pathological Anatomy Service of the Provincial Teaching Hospital of Ciego de Ávila. The universe consisted of females with histopathological diagnosis operated between January 2004 and December 2010, only when the hematoxylin and eosin stain technique was applied. The survival period was defined between January 2011 and December 2016. A data collection plan based on the book of biopsy records and mortality from breast cancer was used.
Results: the most affected age group was 54-59 years old (31,54 %), lobular carcinoma predominated (63,85 %), grade II (30,77 %), tumors greater than 10 mm (88,10 %) at the expense of the lobular subtype (57,94 %), metastasis in up to three nodes (53,85 %) and follicular hyperplasia (18,46 %) compared to capsular invasion (1,54 %). Survival was high (93,08 %).
Conclusions: the histo-prognosis factors as measurable parameters constituted a predictive evidence to define the initial medical behavior and the possible evolution of the operated cases.Downloads
