Natumed, multimedia for the implementation of the Curricular Strategy of Natural and Traditional Medicine in the Medicine career
Abstract
Introduction: the introduction of computer and communications technologies in Higher Medical Education in Cuba is an important element in the creation of tools for learning. The implementation of curricular strategies, including Natural and Traditional Medicine in Medicine career, can be more effective from the efficient use of these technologies.Objective: to create and validate an educational multimedia that systematizes the topics of Natural and Traditional Medicine outlined in the Curricular Strategy of the Medicine career.
Method: a study of technological innovation was carried out at the Faculty of Medical Sciences "Dr. José Assef Yara" in Ciego de Ávila, from September 2014 to June 2015. The studied population covered all 4th year students of Medicine and professors from clinical area; was selected a sample of 35 students, who were surveyed to identify their level of knowledge on the subject, and 16 teachers. The information obtained from texts of Cuban authors and from other countries was organized by topic. The multimedia was made with the program Chreasoft 3.2. Subsequent to its utilization was measured the level of knowledge of students.
Results: the level of knowledge prior to the use of multimedia was poor; a significant variation was observed in the positive direction.
Conclusions: Natumed multimedia received positive evaluations from students and teachers, so it is recommended to generalize its teaching.Downloads
