Long-term psychological consequences of sexual abuse in adolescents from Ciego de Ávila
Abstract
Introduction: a descriptive observational of cross-sectional study was carried out in order to determine the long-term psychological consequences in adolescent victims of sexual abuse from Ciego de Ávila in the period 2012-2013.
Material and method: the adolescent victims were studied using copies of records being investigated that were filed in the Provincial Department of Legal Medicine. The sample was composed of 21 female adolescents between 12 and 15 years old where the most committed crime was lewd abuse. During their search, techniques that served as the basis for obtaining the results were used, such as: the semistructured interview to adolescents, the Phrases Completion Technique of J. Rotter, Youth Issues Inventory and Human Figure Drawing. During the application of these techniques and exploration of teenager it was used the interview as a fundamental method in the study.
Results and discussion: there was evidence of psychological consequences for these adolescents; the most affected dimensions were: behavioral (with a marked imbalance in the educational sphere), social (with a deficit in social skills) and sexual (with early and inappropriate sexual knowledge for age and sexual identity problems)Downloads
