Conocimiento sobre examenes para el diagnóstico del cancer mamario entre trabajadoras del hospital de Ciego de Avila.
Abstract
Se realizó un estudio observacional descriptivo del 15.5% de las trabajadoras del Hospital Provincial “Dr. Antonio Luaces Iraola” de Ciego de Avila, con el objetivo de determinar conocimientos sobre los exámenes que contribuyen al diagnóstico de cáncer de mamas, así como el comportamiento ante los mismos. La muestra lo constituyeron 160 mujeres mayores de 30 años a las que se les realizó una entrevista semiestructurada teniendo en cuenta exámenes para el diagnóstico del cáncer de mama, frecuencia y calidad en la realización del autoexamen, medios a través de los cuales recibió la información, frecuencia en la realización del examen físico de la mama y la mamografía a mayores de 50 años. Se concluyó que la gran mayoría considera el autoexamen mamario y la mamografía como medios para el diagnóstico del cáncer de mama, pero predominan las que realizan el autoexamen de forma incorrecta y sin periodicidad. En su gran mayoría recibieron la información de cómo realizarlo a través de la televisión o prensa. El 83% de las pacientes nunca ha sido examinada por su médico de asistencia y la mitad de las entrevistadas mayores de 50 años nunca se han realizado la mamografía por no ser citada por su médico de la familia.
