Lactancia materna, hábitos bucales deformantes y maloclusiones en niños de 3 años de edad
Abstract
Se realizó un estudio transversal analítico en niños de tres años de edad de ambos sexos, de círculos infantiles del área de salud de la Clínica Estomatológica Docente del municipio Ciego de Ávila, durante el curso escolar 2004 – 2005, para determinar la relación entre el tiempo de lactancia materna, hábitos bucales deformantes y aparición de maloclusiones. De 196 niños que habían recibido lactancia materna de cualquier tipo (exclusiva o parcial) de 0 a 4 meses, de 4 a 6 meses o más de 6 meses de edad. Los que lactaron de 4 a 6 meses presentaron menor cantidad de hábitos bucales deformantes, los que lo hicieron de 0 a 4 meses presentaron la mayor cantidad de hábitos. La asociación de hábitos y la succión digital fueron los más frecuentes. El 64,80% de los niños examinados presentaron hábitos. De los 127 niños con hábitos el 62, 20% presentó maloclusiones.
