Pulmonary thromboembolism. Retrospective analysis of a year.

An observational descriptive study was done to know the mortality behaviour for PTE in inpatients of Dr. Antonio Luaces Iraola Hospital in the period within January to December, 2003. Mortality rate for PTE in the studied serie was of 8.4%. The 37.2% of patients was among 60 to 80 years old. No significant differences were found as to sex with white race prevailing. In the 74.6% of patients there was no clinical and pathological correlation. Preventive treatment was used in 31.4% of cases. The only risk factor appearance was enough for provoking PTE in more than half of the patients.A final information talking into account the requisites of postgraduate departament of medical science school in Ciego de Avila.Downloads
