Brief review on historical evolution of the probiotics concept
Abstract
Knowledge of the beneficial effects of some of the bacteria of the intestinal flora begins at the beginning of the 20th century with the work of the Nobel Prize winner Elie MetchniKoff, who became director of the Pasteur Institute. Since then, and throughout these more than 100 years of study, very different authors have made an effort to understand the different functions of the microorganisms that populate the digestive tract.Downloads
