Education at work and the development of diagnosis skills in ophthalmological diseases in fifth year students of Medicine career

Abstract

Introduction: training models in undergraduate of Medical Sciences focused on new educational trends demand a process of teaching learning from the perspective of self-preparation of the students.

Objective: to know the activities that promote the ocular health and main conditions that should prevent, diagnose, treat and rehabilitate.

Method: the theoretical method was used for literature review, documents such as the Program of Ophthalmology subject were consulted and also exchanged views with teachers, which have more than 10 years of experience in teaching.

Conclusions: it should develop an active teaching, based on the application of the clinical method, according to the responsibilities of the graduate; but still, there are shortcomings that are shown in the daily actions of our professionals. This fact emphasizes the importance of creating alternatives aimed at systematizing knowledge and develop skills in medical students related to the diagnosis of the main ophthalmological conditions
