This review aims at deepening into anxiety as a characteristic and state in hospitalized children and adolescents to undergo some kind of surgical procedure. An anxiety state is used to develop in the pre-operative period, which triggers in the body a sort of response that can be comprised into the general reaction toward stress. Thus, it is necessary the individual consideration before  the statistical one. For the pediatric patients as well as the adults react in a different fashion, depending on their personal history, educational level, cultural background and their relationships with support individuals.
