Nodular fasciitis of parotid region. A case report
Abstract
Nodular fasciitis is a benign fibroblastic proliferation considered as a limited reactive process with a rapid growth and unknown pathogenic. It usually occurs in adulthood located in the extremity and few cases were found in head and neck. It describes a case with nodular fasciitis of parotid area in a 55 year old woman. A study including physical examination, laboratory, radiologic analysis and Fine-needle aspiration cytology was carried out to guide the diagnosis, with which the malignancy of the lesion was discarded and it was informed as a fibroblastic miofibroblastic lesion compatible with nodular fasciitis. Surgical exeresis was carried out due to a conservative technique. The importance of this case is the challenge of diagnosing an uncommon entity in the maxillofacial surgery, with location in the parotideal area, place to seat of other benign and malignant illnesses, which helps us to avoid big surgeries and treatments.Downloads
