Comportamiento del programa de atención al adulto mayor en la policlínica “Belkis Sotomayor Alvarez”. Enero 1998-1999.
Abstract
Se realizó un estudio observacional descriptivo, con el objetivo de conocer el comportamiento del Programa de Atención al Adulto Mayor en el área del Belkis, durante el año 1998. Los datos fueron recogidos a través de las Historias Clínicas, Departamento de Estadística y Asistencia Social y se expresaron en tablas de frecuencia y unidades de por ciento; obteniéndose como resultado que el área cuenta con una población de Adulto Mayor de 3 134 pacientes y un índice de envejecimiento de 13.5%, evaluados por EMAG 306 pacientes para un 9.7%. El 51.6% de los pacientes evaluados correspondieron al nivel III; las causas principales de muerte estuvieron representadas por las enfermedades del corazón, los tumores malignos y las enfermedades cerebro-vasculares. La hipertensión arterial fue la enfermedad crónica más frecuente seguida de la cardiopatía isquémica y la diabetes mellitus. Los servicios que mayormente se ofrecieron fueron la realización de prótesis dental, la corrección oftalmológica y la vinculación a comedor obrero.
