Risk factors in Neonatal asphyxia

A retrospective analitical trial of cases and control was performed in which the relationship of the risk factors for hypoxia during a four years time (1995-98). Of 10529 patients under study, the depression rate was as much as 1,4%. The incidence proved negative when lately starting prenatal care. High blood pressure and anemia have been those of highest incidence of maternal diseases on perinatal hypoxia. Among the proper pregnancy- related diseases were the placenta previa, polyhidramnios, threat of preterm delivery and postdate pregnancy. The indications of oxitocin raised the level of hypoxia as high as 3,1%. Dystoxia raises the relative risk of depression at birth, highlighting the high percentage shown by the forceps delivery up to 5,4%. The index of hypoxia was of 10,1% in pelvic presentation.Downloads
