Caracterización de los fallecidos con ateroesclerosis en el 2006.
Abstract
La ateroesclerosis es causa de muerte e invalides por sus complicaciones en la mayor parte del mundo, en Cuba figura entre las tres primeras causas de muerte. Hay cuando menos tres índices de predicción de riesgo independientes para las personas de una población útiles para anticipar un aumento de la frecuencia de ateroesclerosis: hiperlipidemia, tabaquismo e hipertensión. La hiperlipidemia es el aumento anormal de las concentraciones séricas de colesterol (CT) o triglicérido (Tg). El Comité de Expertos de la Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS) advierte de las consecuencias del humo del tabaco en sujetos no fumadores. En la actualidad, casi 60000 informes han evaluado la relación entre tabaquismo y enfermedad y se puede afirmar que el consumo de tabaco representa la mayor causa de enfermedades jamás investigada en la historia de la biomedicina. Las crisis hipertensivas son situaciones clínicas que cursan con cifras de tensión arterial muy elevadas, y suelen aparecer en enfermos previamente hipertensos. Las enfermedades crónicas no transmisibles no disminuyen, sino que aumentan. La esperanza de vida al nacer no presenta un crecimiento notable, alrededor de los 75 y 76 años en los países ricos, casi igual que 30 años atrás, en Cuba es de 76 años. En nuestro estudio se obtuvo como resultado que predominaron las edades comprendidas entre 66 a 85 años, el sexo masculino, el morfotipo racial blanco, los que tenían familiares con ateroesclerosis, los que tenían hipertensión arterial, los fumadores, los que consumían grasa animal, los sedentarios y los estresados.
