Simple renal colic of extraurinary cause due to calcified uterine myoma. case report
Abstract
Introduction: simple renal colic is an acute disease characterized by the sudden onset of intense pain in the costovertebral angle, accompanied by paleness, cold sweating and vomiting. Its diagnosis is eminently clinical. Imaging tests are essential to determine its cause and the eventual need for endourological intervention.
Objective: to present a case of simple renal colic of extraurinary cause, secondary to a calcified uterine fibroid.
Case presentation: a 73-year-old black female patient with low weight and a history of presenting a large uterine fibroid. She went to the emergency department of the urology service due to colicky pain in the right lumbar fossa that appeared suddenly, with marked intensity, characteristic radiation to the right flank and reached the pudendal lip on the same side. The physical examination confirmed a positive percussion fist maneuver on the right side and positive posterior pyelorenoureteral points. A hypogastric tumor with well-defined edges, mobile, with a stony consistency was confirmed. Intravenous urography revealed a calcified image that could correspond to a calcified fibroid. She was treated with analgesics, anti-inflammatories, follow-up by the urology outpatient clinic, and consultation with the Gynecology service.
Conclusions: the urological prognosis of this patient is favorable, intravenous urography was the key test in the diagnosis. The definitive treatment is gynecological surgery to eradicate the cause, which was not carried out due to age and associated comorbiditiesDownloads
