Intervención educativa para incrementar el nivel de conocimiento sobre infecciones nosocomiales de neonatos con accesos vasculares

Abstract

Se realizó un estudio de intervención pre-experimental tipo antes después para evaluar una
estrategia de intervención educativa a los profesionales y técnicos sobre infecciones
nosocomiales relacionadas con los accesos vasculares en neonatos graves durante el período
comprendido entre octubre de 2005 y octubre de 2007. El universo de esta investigación
estuvo constituido por 60 trabajadores: 14 médicos, 42 enfermeras y 4 técnicos de laboratorio
del Servicio de Neonatología del Hospital General Provincial Docente “Capitán Roberto
Rodríguez Fernández” de Morón. El conocimiento del personal que labora en el Servicio de
Neonatología, implicado en la atención de recién nacidos graves en relación con los factores de
riesgo para las infecciones nosocomiales era inaceptable en el 46,70% de los casos,
incrementándose hasta el 100% después del curso de capacitación. Se constató además que el
40% desconocían sobre el material usado en un abordaje vascular, elevándose posteriormente
al 100% esta cifra. En cuanto a los gérmenes que colonizan los accesos vasculares, logramos
que el 93,3% conocieran esta información adecuadamente después de la capacitación. El
manejo práctico de los casos fue mínimo aceptable en el 76,6% de los casos, siendo aceptable
después en el 96,70%.
