Educational intervention on toxoplasmosis in primary health care from Ciego de Ávila 2012
Abstract
Introduction: Toxoplasmosis is a medical term given to a human and many other animals infectious disease, caused by a global distribution, the Gondii Toxoplasma parasite.
Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness of an educational intervention on the level of knowledge that doctors have about the primary health attention on toxoplasmosis in Ciego de Avila.
Method: A pre-experimental study was carried out in the four areas of health. The universe was 115 physicians and the sample was constituted by 72 doctors who met the inclusion criteria. A questionnaire was applied before and after the training.
Results: General doctors had less passed proportion before educational intervention than integral physician. Physicians who had more than 5 years of experience had better results than those who had less than 5 years. The subjects presented major difficulties before the intervention were diagnosis and clinical profile and after educational activity were the diagnosis and treatment. Conclusions: Educational intervention increased the general knowledge on toxoplasmosis in physicians of primary health care from Ciego de Avila.
