Professional development strategy for the enhancement of information literacy competencies in medical sciences faculty

Introduction: in medical sciences, the rapid growth and constant updating of scientific knowledge make professors’ informational competencies crucial for the quality of teaching, research, and clinical practice.
Objective: to propose a professional development strategy for the development of informational competencies in health sciences professors.
Methods: a pedagogical technological development study was carried out among professors at the University Health Campus in the municipality of Fomento, Sancti Spíritus province, from September to December 2025. The designed strategy was structured into three sequential components: introductory motivational activities, a face-to-face workshop, and a virtual course. Its validation was carried out using the judgment of 12 experts, applying the modified Delphi method and achieving a 100 % consensus agreement on the items after two rounds. The ethical precepts of scientific research were followed.
Results: the strategy obtained an overall average rating of 4.72 out of 5. The pertinence dimension received the highest score (4.83), followed by clarity and potential usefulness (4.75). The quantitative analysis demonstrated a high and significant consensus among the experts, with a Kendall’s coefficient of concordance of W = 0.86 (p < 0.001). Qualitative suggestions allowed for improvements to the proposal, such as incorporating greater flexibility in the training sequence and strengthening the attitudinal component.
Conclusion: the proposed strategy is considered relevant, coherent, feasible, and clear for the development of informational competencies in medical sciences professors in the municipality of Fomento, with potential for adaptation to similar contexts.
