Clinical-epidemiological behavior of patients with COVID-19

Introduction: emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases are constant challenges for public health; specifically, COVID-19, became a global health problem.
Objective: to analyze the clinical and epidemiological behavior of patients diagnosed with COVID-19 from March 2020 to March 2021, from Placetas, Villa Clara.
Methods: an analytical cross-sectional study was carried out on a population of 99 patients with a confirmed diagnosis of COVID-19 during the study period in Placetas municipality. The incidence rate per thousand inhabitants was estimated for each health area of the municipality, as well as the variables: age, sex, health area, source of infection, nationality, presence of symptoms at diagnosis.
Results: subjects from the age group of 20 to 39 years predominated (19.19 %); 54.55 % male; the highest incidence rate was 1.92 for the town of Falcón; Cuban nationality represented 94.95 % of the total; 81.82 % had contact with positive people as the source of infection; the symptomatic form at diagnosis constituted 56.57 % and the most frequently found symptoms were: cough (32.32 %), runny nose (28.28 %) and fever (23.23 %).
