A descriptive observational study was performed so as to assess the behavior of nosocomial infections at the Neonatology Department of the “Roberto Rodriguez” General Teaching Hospital of Morón city,from March 1995 to March 2000.The infection rate was 10.3%.Bronchopneumonia was the commonest infection found,the main risk factors to contract these infections were:low weight at birth and premature deliveries respectively.The staphylococcus coagulase negative was the most commonly isolated microorganism in the microbiologic studies.Growing germs were found in all the endotracheal tubes as well as in venous catheters (95.6%).Gram-positive germs showed low resistance to ampicillin.Downloads
