Seasonal Dynamics of Giardia in Ciego de Avila

Abstract

A descriptive observational study was done to know the seasonal dynamics of giardia in the province of Ciego de Avila. 251.330 sample eollections from all of the municipalities of the province were analized within a five year period. From January 1994 until December 1998. The method was that of direct observation and data were compiled at the Ciego de Avila MINSAP archives. The occurrence of giardiasis in Ciego de Avila was of up to 11.2 %, being the months of July, August and November those which showed the highest positive rate.
