Extracciones prematuras en escolares de primaria de dos escuelas del área oeste del municipio Camagüey.
Abstract
Se realizó un estudio descriptivo y transversal en escolares de 8 a 11 años de edad, de ambos sexos en los seminternados Granma y Ciudad Escolar Ignacio Agramonte en el período comprendido de enero a marzo del 2000, por una estudiante de 3rer año de estomatología, con el objetivo de determinar la frecuencia de extracciones prematuras en los escolares de primaria, agrupar los niños según la edad y sexo, determinar en los pacientes afectados con extracción prematura el diente ausente con más frecuencia, otros factores de riesgo de maloclusiones y la presencia de la misma, así como la necesidad de tratamiento. En un universo de 394 pacientes a quienes se les aplicó un formulario, se recogieron datos generales y específicos según los objetivos. Se obtuvo que en la minoría de los pacientes presentaban extracciones prematuras y en ellos el diente ausente con más frecuencia fue el primer molar temporal superior. La mayoría de los niños presentaron maloclusiones y los restantes contaban con un factor de riesgo predominante: los hábitos bucales deformantes para los que se necesita realizar una guía de tratamiento preventivo e interceptivo.
