Conflictos éticos que se presentan en el manejo del paciente portador de cáncer laríngeo.
Abstract
Se hace una revisión de los conflictos éticos que se presentan en el manejo del paciente portador de cáncer laríngeo, enfocado fundamentalmente a los aspectos de diagnóstico precoz, tratamiento y asistencia paliativa. En el primer aspecto se esboza la posibilidad de la creación de un programa para el diagnóstico precoz de la enfermedad, resaltando la importancia del consentimiento informado para que el mismo sea eficaz. En los temas de tratamiento y asistencia paliativa se valoran los conflictos éticos que se establecen en el paciente, sus familiares y los de este con la sociedad, a la hora de reincorporarse a la misma. Finalmente se concluye que en la relación médico-paciente que establecemos los especialistas en ORL con el paciente portador de cáncer laríngeo, existe aun cierto grado de paternalismo, ya que nos regimos por el principio de proporcionar el enfermo el máximo beneficio y retenemos la información que pueda causarle angustia o depresión.
