Morbimortalidad por accidente vascular encefálico en la unidad de cuidados intensivos de adulto del Hospital Provincial Docente de Ciego de Ávila en el año 2003
Abstract
Se realiza un estudio en el Hospital Provincial Docente “Dr. Antonio Luaces Iraola” de Ciego de Ávila a lo largo del año 2003, con el objetivo de conocer la mortalidad y morbilidad por Accidentes Vasculares Encefálicos (AVE), su frecuencia según sexo, tipo de AVE, factores de riesgo, complicaciones, variación mensual, causas de muerte y estadía, comparándose dos grupos de edad, menor de 65 y mayor o igual a 65 años. La letalidad fue de un 27.60%. El mayor número de egresos en el grupo de más de 65 años. no existieron diferencias en cuanto al sexo. La mayor mortalidad en el sexo femenino y el grupo de más de 65 años. La trombosis cerebral con 76 pacientes, el tipo de AVE más frecuente del grupo mayor de 65 años, la HSA con 11 el más frecuente en el grupo menor de 65 años. El mayor número de ingresos en el mes de enero y la mayor mortalidad en el mes de noviembre. La combinación factores de riesgo en un mismo paciente fue lo que más influyó en la producción de los AVE, destacándose la HTA. La bronconeumonía fue la complicación más frecuente en ambos grupos. En el grupo de más de 65 años la principal causa de muerte es la bronconeumonía, en el menor de 65 años fue la lesión en los centros neurológicos superiores. En ambos grupos de edad, más del 50% de los pacientes tuvieron una estadía entre 1 y 7 días.
