Lactancia materna exclusiva. Revisión bibliográfica

Abstract

Se realizó una revisión bibliográfica sobre el tema de la lactancia materna exclusiva. Se hace un recorrido desde el siglo XVIII donde ya se reconocían las bondades de la lactancia materna y en el siglo XX específicamente a partir de los años 30 se intensificó el abandono de la lactancia materna influido por circunstancias culturales y socioeconómicas. Se hace alusión a las ventajas que tiene la alimentación a pecho y se describen las actividades que han llevado a cabo la Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS) y la Organización Panamericana de fa Salud para la promoción y mantención de la lactancia materna exclusiva  en diferentes países. Se citan los acuerdos y declaraciones mundiales más importantes hasta marzo del 2004 donde se hace un llamamiento por la OMS y la UNICEF a los gobiernos para que promuevan y protejan la lactancia materna. Se hace un recuento del surgimiento de fa puericultura en Cuba y la importancia de esta consulta en fa promoción de la lactancia materna. Se revisaron ras revistas de Medicina General Integral del 2000 al 2004 y se citan artículos que hablan sobre el tema. Se hace alusión a los índices de lactancia materna exclusiva en fa provincia Ciego de Ávila y en el área de salud del policlínico Norte.
