Prevalencia de la sepsis por catéter en los servicios del Hospital Provincial en Ciego de Ávila, Mayo 2004-2006.
Abstract
La infección vascular asociada al uso de catéter, constituye una de las principales causas de infección intrahospitalaria y de muerte en pacientes ingresados en unidades de atención al grave .Se realizó un estudio descriptivo, retrospectivo, para conocer la prevalencia de las sepsis por catéter en los servicios del hospital desde Mayo 2004 – Mayo 2006. Se analizaron la frecuencia de aislamientos en los diferentes servicios, así como los gérmenes recuperados en estos pacientes. Escherichia coli, Estafilococo coagulasa negativa y Estafilococo aureus fueron los gérmenes que con mayor frecuencia se aislaron. Los servicios más implicados fueron: UTIP, Neonatología y los servicios de atención al grave. El germen Escherichia coli fue el de mayor frecuencia de aislamiento. .La recolección y procesamiento de las muestras se realizó según normas establecidas (Método de Cleri y Maki).
