Infecciones neonatales. Estudio de ocho años
Abstract
Las infecciones son frecuentes en el período neonatal por diferentes factores de riesgo, inciden tantoen la morbilidad como en la mortalidad en este período de la vida. Hasta un 2 % de los fetos se infestan
intrautero y hasta un 10 % de los neonatos se infectan durante el parto o en el primer mes de vida. Se
realizó un estudio observacional descriptivo de la infección neonatal en el Hospital Provincial Docente
“Dr. Antonio Luaces Iraola”, de Ciego de Ávila, en la etapa comprendida de enero de 1997 hasta
diciembre de 2005, con el objetivo de determinar incidencia, mortalidad, y relación con algunas
variables. En el período estudiado fallecieron 23 recién nacidos por sepsis para una tasa general de
0,9 X cada mil nacidos vivos. La forma de presentación más frecuente fue la sepsis connatal y los
gérmenes aislados con mayor frecuencia fueron los Gram negativos
