Las malformaciones congénitas como causa de muerte en menores de un año y fallas reproductiva, en la provincia Ciego de Ávila

Abstract

Se realizó un estudio retrospectivo de corte transversal en el período comprendido desde enero del año 2000 hasta el 30 de junio del año 2005; con el objetivo de describir algunas características epidemiológicas de los defectos congénitos en la provincia de Ciego de Ávila. Se estudiaron 127 casos, donde 43 correspondieron al total de los menores de un año fallecidos por malformaciones congénitas, 79 fetos de embarazos interrumpidos por defectos congénitos o alguna enfermedad genética y 5 menores de un año fallecidos por muerte súbita o causa desconocida. Encontramos que el municipio de mayor número de casos de defectos congénitos en fallecidos menores de un año resultó ser Ciego de Ávila, el sistema más afectado el  cardiovascular, el municipio de mayor número de casos de fallas reproductivas por defectos congénitos también resultó ser Ciego de Ávila y el Sistema más afectado fue el Sistema Nervioso Central (SNC).
