Intervenciones quirúrgicas por dientes retenidos

Abstract

Se realizó un estudio observacional descriptivo a los pacientes atendidos en el servicio de Cirugía Máxilo Facial del Hospital General Provincial Docente de Morón, residentes en la zona norte de Ciego de Ávila, durante el período comprendido entre enero de 2003 y diciembre de 2004, con el objetivo de determinar el comportamiento de las intervenciones quirúrgicas por dientes retenidos en estos pacientes. Para la obtención del dato primario se confeccionó un formulario donde se recoge la información necesaria en correspondencia con los objetivos de la investigación. Los datos se procesaron con ayuda de un programa de computación y se distribuyeron según su frecuencia. Como medida de resumen de la información se utilizó el cálculo porcentual. Los terceros molares inferiores fueron los dientes que más se intervinieron, siendo la avulsión quirúrgica el tratamiento de elección. En el 23.83% de las intervenciones realizadas se presentaron complicaciones inmediatas, siendo más frecuente la luxación de dientes vecinos
