Educational strategy to modify psychological variables in the institutionalized aged people
Abstract
A pre-experimental, not observational study was carried out, with the aim to modify psychological variables in Adult Day Care Centre of Ciego de Ávila, from January to June 2010. The universe was constituted by 63 institutionalized aged people and the sample by the ones that meet the criteria of inclusion and exclusion was constituted by 39 aged people. For the educational diagnosis it a survey was carried out, a Participant observation to measure interest variables as well as family support and satisfaction with the institution's services and different psychological tests. The predominant age was among 71-75 years old, prevailed the widowed marital status, primary school level and the relative frequencies for both sexes were similar, the majority does not receive family attention nevertheless they are found satisfied with the institution's services and the majority of the aged people presented high levels of depression and also high levels of anxiety as trait and state. It was developed and implemented an educational strategy to modify psychological variables where was obtained a high increase of the level of knowledge and adequate modification of the attitudes.Downloads
