Vascularización arterial del cuerpo calloso.

Abstract

En la provincia de Ciego de Ávila la incidencia de enfermedades cerebrovasculares en las edades
medias y avanzadas de la vida es elevada, de 58.6 por cada 100 000 habitantes. Las arterias
callosas constituyen la fuente principal de suministro sanguíneo hacia el cuerpo calloso, estructura
cerebral de significativa importancia. La información actual disponible en la literatura científica es
contradictoria y dispersa por lo que el estudio de este sistema y su conocimiento permitirían un
abordaje quirúrgico con menos riesgos. Para analizar este sistema arterial desde el punto de vista
microanatómico se realizó un estudio observacional descriptivo retrospectivo en cincuenta
cerebros humanos, en el período comprendido desde Febrero hasta Julio del 2009, donde se
obtuvo que las arterias callosas constituyen ramificaciones subcorticales de la arteria cerebral
anterior distal o pericallosa, constatándose arterias callosas cortas en la mayoría de los cerebros
de la muestra y arterias callosas largas de forma inconstante. Se concluyó que el origen de las
ramificaciones cortas y largas desde el punto de vista topográfico es muy variable. El número de
arterias callosas, así como su grosor varió de un espécimen a otro.
