Comportamiento de la otitis media en el recién nacido en el servicio abierto de Neonatología en el año 2010

Abstract

Se realizó un estudio observacional descriptivo con la finalidad de conocer el comportamiento de la otitis media aguda (OMA) en el servicio abierto de neonatología durante el año 2010 teniendo en cuenta diversos elementos como factores de riesgo, el uso de la otoscopia como medio diagnóstico de certeza así como la toma de cultivo del conducto auditivo en los casos en que fue posible. El universo estuvo constituido por todos los recién nacidos que ingresaron en el servicio abierto de neonatología y se incluyeron en el estudio a todos aquellos casos que ingresaron al mismo con los siguientes síntomas: fiebre, irritabilidad, rechazo al alimento y secreción u obstrucción nasal. El 54% de los pacientes que ingresaron en el servicio abierto de Neonatología presentaban un cuadro probable de OMA, el factor de riesgo que se encontró con una mayor frecuencia fue la presencia de síntomas respiratorios previos seguido de la lactancia artificial y el uso del biberón, la otoscopia se le realizó al 20% de los pacientes con una positividad del 76% y solo se le realizó cultivo de la secreción del conducto auditivo al 10% de los niños con una positividad del 50%.
