Characterization of self-esteem in disabled patients from 9 to 11 years, with moderate mental retardation
Abstract
A descriptive, prospective, observational study was carried out with the aim of characterizing the current status of self-esteem in disabled patients from 9 to 11 years, with moderate mental retardation who are not attending schools. The sample consisted of 22 dispensarized patients in the integral rehabilitation service of Julio Antonio Mella Policlinic in Camagüey. The variables used to measure self-esteem were the self-appraisal and self-regulation. It was found that the majority of patients with moderate mental retardation have inadequate self-esteem, they did not understand the limitations and were unaware of its real possibilities and they were not able to self-regulate in failure to correct their own mistakes and the way in which controlling negative emotionsDownloads
