Assessment of knowledge on tuberculosis control in family doctors from Ciego de Ávila

Abstract

Tuberculosis is one of the most passionate diseases in the history of mankind. A lot of myths and legend has been created around the consumption, the name by which tuberculosis was known for a long time, even in scientific means. A descriptive study was carried out to assess the level of knowledge about TB control in family doctors of Ciego de Avila from January to December 2009.The universe of study was 86 family doctors. To collect information about the knowledge doctors have it was used a survey that it was developed and validated through pilot study, of which the part that had responded to the objectives was used. It was observed that the level of knowledge was in general way inadequate, representing a 62.79% rating in the category of
unacceptable and minimum acceptable. The largest percentages of unacceptable and minimun acceptable knowledge corresponded to the basics aspects on the objectives and functions program.
