Abstract

The work describes the birth and development of the great Central Pharmacy in Ciego de Ávila from 1916 to 2011. It takes into account the development of this sector in the neo-colonial Cuba with the transformation of some drugstores in medication company due to the importance that the process of this branch has for an enormous increase of the north American financial capital and its mutation with the revolutionary triumph for the communitarian service. It expresses a description of the history of the drugstores in Cuba, special interest to the private drugstores that increased in Ciego de Ávila city and in the creation of the monthly newspaper Heraldo pharmacist and his almost century of existence giving this service of the Central Drugstore.
