Intoxication by the Ackee plant vegetable toxic. A case report

Abstract

Most of plants do not possess toxic properties demonstrated, but they do have toxicological studies, belong to a variety of species commonly present in nature. The Ackee (Blighia sapida) is Jamaica national fruit, its toxicity is low frequency and consumption areas is common in
populations of African descent. A sporadic case of a 25-year-old is presented who ingested the fruits of unripe Ackee cooked with pork; presenting continuous vomiting, abdominal pain, white urine with deep pain, weight loss, malaise, weakness and nervous disorders we carry out a warning about the possibility of this poisoning through this case.
