Comportamiento de la meningoencefalitis bacteriana en edad pediátrica en la provincia Ciego de Ávila durante los años 1997 a 2008
Abstract
Se realizó un análisis observacional descriptivo retrospectivo (series cronológicas) para describir el comportamiento de las meningoencefalitis bacterianas diagnosticadas a pacientes menores de 18 años en la provincia de Ciego de Ávila en el período de 19972008. El universo de estudio estuvo constituido por 106 pacientes menores de 18 años ingresados en la provincia por meningoencefalitis bacteriana en el período descrito. El grupo de edad más afectado fue el de los menores de un año, en 57 casos se logró aislamiento bacteriano, y el 56,6% de los casos resultó positivo al examen directo (Gram). La Neisseria meningitidis fue el germen más aislado hasta el año 2000, a partir de este año se aprecia un significativo aumento del Estreptococo pneumoniae, resultando éste el germen más frecuentemente aislado dentro de los pacientes fallecidosDownloads
