Effect of the treatment with the natural antioxidant product Prevenox® in the quality of life related to the health of geriatric patients
Abstract
Introduction: Cuba is a country where few children are born and the proportion of people aged 60 and over experiences a progressive growth. The MINSAP has developed a Comprehensive Adult Attention Program whose purpose is to contribute to raising the level of health, the degree of satisfaction and the quality of life of the elderly. One of the ways we have to fulfill these Program objectives is the preventive use of Natural and Traditional Medicine in the population over 60 years old.
Objective: to evaluate the impact of the administration of the antioxidant natural product Prevenox on the quality of life of the geriatric patient.
Methods: a pre-experimental, comparative before and after, prospective study was conducted, with a duration of two months from September 2017 until October of that year. All patients over 60 years of age, of both sexes, controlled on a family record and with a medical history belonging to the clinic No.15 of the Policlinic of the municipality of Ciego de Ávila, participated, to which the SF quality of life measurement questionnaire was applied. SF-36 was applied before and after consuming a dose of Prevenox for two months.
Results: after administering Prevenox and applying the SF-36 questionnaire at 30 and 60 days, statistically significant score gains were obtained in all dimensions.
Conclusions: the administration of the Prevenox supplement in elderly patients significantly improves the Quality of Life Related to Health. No adverse reactions were reported to Prevenox among the patients included in the studyDownloads
