Abstract

Se realizó un estudio observacional descriptivo para caracterizar el manejo del divorcio en niños entre 6 y 11 años de edad del Consejo Popular Patria en el período comprendido entre enero y diciembre del 2000. El universo de estudio estuvo constituido por todos los hijos de padres divorciados del Consejo (194 niños); la muestra quedó conformada por 94 niños. Las fuentes de información fueron las entrevistas con los niños y una encuesta a los padres. Se constató que en el momento del divorcio la conducta asumida por el miembro presente fue mayormente la de hablar mal del padre; la relación entre ambos padres es que discuten con frecuencia según criterio del niño y la madre; la comunicación del miembro ausente con el niño, según criterio del mismo y del miembro presente, es mala; después del divorcio la actitud asumida en mayor medida por el miembro de la pareja que convive con el niño, fue el exceso de autoridad y los síntomas más frecuentes que aparecieron en el niño después del divorcio fueron la intranquilidad y la agresividad.
