Intervención educativa en familiares de niños diabéticos

Abstract

La diabetes mellitus es un síndrome originado por la interacción genético-ambiental, caracterizado por una hiperglucemia crónica, es uno de los mejores ejemplos de que el seguimiento de una persona con enfermedad crónica es una continua situación de aprendizaje; se realiza una intervención con el objetivo de implementar un programa educativo para elevar el nivel de conocimientos sobre diabetes mellitus a familiares de niños diabéticos. Se realizó un estudio pre-experimental de tipo antes-después con los familiares de niños diabéticos pertenecientes al territorio Sur de la provincia de Ciego de Ávila desde enero del 2006 a diciembre del 2007 con la aplicación de una intervención educativa. Al analizar el nivel de conocimientos de los familiares, sólo el 78,38% era satisfactorio al inicio de la investigación, con un total de 580 respuestas correctas, y una vez concluida se elevó al 100% el nivel de conocimientos satisfactorios, con un total de 722 preguntas respondidas de forma correcta que representa el 97,56% del total de preguntas de los cuestionarios. Se concluye que la intervención educativa aplicada mostró ser eficaz para elevar el nivel de conocimientos sobre diabetes mellitus en los familiares de los niños diabéticos
