Code of rights and duties of arbitrators

Rights:

  • Refuse to review the assigned article if he does not have the time required to evaluate it or if he does not consider himself an expert on the subject.
  • Reject works that have not been formally submitted by the director of MediCiego.
  • Refuse to make judgments of complacency at the request of those responsible for the journal.
  • Know the final decision made by the editorial committee regarding the article that was evaluated.
  • Demand some type of document that certifies collaboration as an evaluator in MediCiego.
  • Issue some criteria or suggestion to the editorial committee of MediCiego to improve the evaluation process.
  • Participate in workshops, work meetings or scientific activities related to his role as arbitrator.

Duties:

  • Meet the 30-day deadline if he accepts the review.
  • To ensure the integrity of anonymous peer review of submissions to this editorial, every effort will be made to prevent authors from knowing the identity of reviewers and vice versa.
  • Use the Arbitration Guide provided, as well as other standardized evaluation guidelines for international use (EQUATOR).
  • Refuse to referee any scientific paper if a conflict of interest (personal relationships, academic rivalry, intellectual passion, or otherwise) with the author(s) could prejudice opinions about the content.

Not to use the information contained in the evaluated articles to promote their own academic interests, nor to discuss or comment publicly on the content of unpublished articles or the result of their arbitration.

  • Do not superficially approve a manuscript submitted for review.
  • Inform promptly if it detects any indication of plagiarism, be it partial or total.
  • Clearly communicate to the authors the suggested changes if necessary, or comment on the criteria by which the article is not suitable for publication.
  • keep informed and updated on any variation or novelty in the Instructions to Authors.
  • Carry out the re-evaluation of the reviewed articles, subject to modifications, to corroborate if they were taken into account by the authors.
