Assessment of Program for Responsible Maternity and Paternity in Ciego de Avila
Abstract
Introduction: today it is necessary to improve the quality of the Program for Responsible Maternity and Paternity that develops in the Primary Health Care, whereby pregnant women and family are preparing for optimum conditions for receiving the new baby.
Objective: to evaluate the performance of this program in Ciego de Avila from January to December 2013.
Method: a longitudinal descriptive observational research was carried out in the five health areas from Ciego de Ávila; the universe was made up of 1 691 women; 520 postpartum women were surveyed, of which a sample of 333 was selected. Semi-structured interviews were conducted to postpartum women and reference centers were visited.
Conclusions: the operation of the Program for Responsible Maternity and Paternity in Ciego de Ávila municipality was evaluated as regularly.
Recommendations: to strengthen the actions of the educational intervention strategy of the Program for Responsible Maternity and Paternity in Ciego de Ávila municipality, with exchanges and weekly discussions in the reference areas, to achieve stable operation of this program in all health areas and better results in the municipalityDownloads
