Dr. Manuel de Jesús Díaz Hernández was born in the municipality of Ciego de Ávila, in the former province of Camagüey, on June 3, 1955, to a middle-class family. He completed his pre-university studies in 1973, at the Secondary Education Institute of the city of Ciego de Ávila. He completed his university studies at the School of Stomatology in Santiago de Cuba, and graduated in 1978 with outstanding results. In 1985 he trained as a first-degree specialist in maxillofacial surgery at the Higher Institute of Medical Sciences in Camagüey. Since 1983 he has been involved in medical teaching and research in his career; he collaborated in the teaching of the subjects Oral Surgery and Oral Medicine in the Stomatology career, until his unexpected death.
