Sobrediagnóstico de amebiasis intestinal asociado al examen microscópico de heces
Abstract
Se realizó un estudio observacional descriptivo con el objetivo de conoce la prevalencia de Entamoeba histolytica/Entamoeba dispar, siendo procesadas 1172 muestras analizadas en la policlínica de Ceballos, durante el período de tiempo comprendido entre enero del 2001 y enero del 2002 observándose un total de 139 casos positivos de E. histolytica/ E. dispar para un 11.8% de positividad identificándose el mayor número de casos positivos (56) en las edades comprendidas entre 6-10 años, posteriormente y luego de haber seguido tratamiento con Metronidazol, un total de 41 pacientes resultaron nuevamente positivos, realizándoseles sangre oculta en heces fecales, siendo negativa en todos los casos lo que infiere que el 100% de los mismos se correspondió a E. dispar la cual no es hematófaga, observándose la presencia en nuestro medio de dicho parásito y un sobrediagnóstico de Entamoeba histolytica en esta área de salud.
