Abstract
Según trabajos escritos por algunos historiadores de reconocido prestigio como el Doctor Antonio de Gordon y Acosta en el siglo XIX y el Doctor José A. Martínez Fortún en la pasada centuria, además de las lecturas de los cronistas de Indias, puede decirse que los miembros de cada uno de los grupos étnicos que integraban la comunidad primitiva cubana precolombina, ejercían la medicina, estos son los llamados behíques o bohíques; poderosos personajes que constituyeron, en opinión del sabio polígrafo cubano Doctor Fernando Ortíz; los sujetos más aborrecidos y calumniados por los misioneros y colonizadores, que veían en ellos un impedimento para sus propósitos de esclavizar a sus compatriotas y destruir su patrimonio cultural.Downloads
