Use of indired parameters in the disgnosis of helminthiasis in school children from Ciego de Avila province.

A descriptive cross-sectional study is performed, involving 800 children from the Venezuela and Baraguá municipalities of Ciego de Avila province, aiming at identifying infestation risk groups. A questionnaire was administered and the school teachers’ critiria were supplied as to the students’s learning skills. Results indicate that the helminth infested population was (47.3%). Abdominal pain (97.6%)was the most reported symptom. Fecal matter reveal a sensitivity (s) (97.6%) and a specificity (E) (71.2%) for those complaining of abdominal pain. Low learning skill pupils were more infested with helminth (63.7%). It was noted that those under (10%), low learning abilities and renewed school years, having abdominal pain were at greater risk for being infested with helminth (87.5%)Downloads
