Some Biosocial Factors in Teenage Mothers and their Children

Sixty three teenage mothers, ages 10-19 years old and their children during their first-year-of- life period and the other constituted by the same amount of mothers ranging between 20-30 years and their respective children, this was done in 66 Family Doctors Home Offices belonging to Teaching Polyclinic on the northern area of Ciego de Ävila city from March 1st , 2000 to March 2001. A form was devised including different variables and it was found that (65.1 %) of the teenagers accomplished Secondary School, the same % did not have a steady partner, and most of them (87.2%) reached a delivery time 37-42 week gestation, the most frequent complication at time of delivery was that of trauma and that prevailing birth weight was of 2500g or over (88.9%) An early weaning and poor hygienc conditionswere found in the teenagers. The most frequent causative agent for hospitalization in such children were Acute Respiratory Diseases and Acute diarrhea.Downloads
