Effectiveness of magnetic field therapy in patients with fibromyalgia.
Abstract
An explanatory experimental study of phase II clinical trial was carried out in the North Polyclinic of Ciego de Avila, from January to December 2011, with the aim of evaluating the effectiveness of magnetic field therapy in patients with fibromyalgia diagnosis. The sample universe was represented by 50 patients who had this disease, and they gathered the diagnostic criteria, inclusion, exclusion and exit; two groups were created randomly, a control group of 25 patients who received drug treatment with Ibuprofen and Amitriptyline and other study group, which was applied only magnetic field therapy. The pain intensity was measured with Visual Analogue Scale (VAS), and Waddell test for functional disability. The information was collected through medical records and observational approach, the dumped data in surveys and the results shown in tables, were issued conclusions: predominance of females between 30-39 years with category of workers, most of them treated with magnetic field therapy decreased pain intensity and also maintained with ability to perform activities of daily life, demonstrating the effectiveness of both therapeutic methods, dominated by the effectiveness with the application of magnetic field.Downloads
