Mortalidad dentaria por enfermedad periodontal en el 10 % de los diabéticos del municipio Ciego de Ávila. Estudio de 10 años.
Abstract
Las alteraciones bucales en pacientes diabéticos se han convertido en un reto para la Periodoncia. La meta es un mejor control metabólico del paciente, el mejoramiento de su aparato estomatognático, así como el perfeccionamiento de sus hábitos de higiene bucal para obtener resultados como la disminución de la mortalidad dentaria, de prótesis dentales y de tratamientos quirúrgicos. Para el exitoso tratamiento de 56 pacientes diabéticos estudiados se realizaron las historias clínicas, se remitieron a consejería de salud, se indicaron exámenes complementarios relacionados con la patología de base. A todos los pacientes se les aplicó gluconato de clorhexidina al 0.2% y varias sesiones de tartrectomía, luego fueron intervenidos quirúrgicamente utilizando la técnica de Widman modificada. Los resultados fueron satisfactorios teniendo en cuenta la edad y el sexo en relación con la mortalidad dentaria en un período de tiempo de 10 años
